On July 17-22, over 200 junior and high school students and leaders from 19 area churches are joining together to have a positive impact on Mansfield, Ohio.
This multi-church effort, “Reach Mansfield,” will see 16 different serve teams of students transported via busses and vans throughout the city daily to serve through dozens of different non-profits, ministries, and partners.
Students will be doing everything from coordinating with the City of Mansfield’s Parks and Recreation department to clean-up area parks or Richland Pregnancy Services or the Crossroads Church City Center.
The goal of the week is to show and share the message of Jesus by meeting practical needs. It also allows students to be exposed to all the good things happening in Mansfield and Richland County already to help those who are in need. Students will see that you don’t have to go overseas to reach out and help people who have genuine needs.
The Reach Mansfield Lead Team, consisting of pastors and leaders from Berean Baptist Church, Crossroads Church and Mosaic Church, has worked hard for 12 months on preparations to help this week of local missions go off without a hitch. All year multiple teams worked together to organize the event, service projects, and programming of the week!
Though almost all the churches that are sending students are from Richland County, there is one group of students coming all the way from Elkins, West Virginia!
Every evening the students will return to an area camp where they will have free time for some activities followed by a worship service with singing and preaching. The goal is that students themselves become closer to Jesus Christ and can understand and articulate the gospel, the good news that Jesus came to live, die, and rise again to save sinners.
For the leaders of this event, Reach Mansfield is a success if it helps students know Jesus better and equips them to make Him known in their community through love, service, and sharing.
